This new processor is an upgrade from its predecessor, the Core i9-13900KS, which was the first desktop processor to break the 6GHz barrier at stock speeds. Priced at $699, the Core i9-14900KS promises top-notch performance and will be available for purchase in stores starting today.
The Core i9-14900KS comes equipped with 24 cores, with eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. It runs at a base power of 150 watts, a slight increase from the 125 watts of the 14900K. Despite these differences, the 14900KS is nearly identical to the 14900K, making it essentially a “binned” version selected for its higher clock speed.
Intel is promising significant performance improvements with the Core i9-14900KS, including up to 15 percent better gaming performance compared to the 13900KS. Furthermore, for 3D production multitasking workflows, Intel claims a 73 percent improvement over AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X.
