V Rising, the vampire survival game, has been in early access for a few years now, and developers have decided to significantly raise the price before the game reaches its full 1.0 launch. The price is set to increase from $19.99 to $34.99, almost doubling its cost. Stunlock, the developers, justify this decision by citing the amount of content and development that has been poured into the game over the past two years. They believe that the increased price tag reflects the game’s full value after five years of development.

Even in its current unfinished state, V Rising has received praise for its enjoyable collection of crafting, survival, and exploration mechanics presented in a polished package. The game has undergone various improvements during its early access period, such as reworking magic, adding new areas inspired by non-vampiric creatures, and expanding its bestiary of creatures and bosses for players to defeat. Additionally, players now have the ability to build their own castles within the game.

1.0 Launch Updates

The upcoming 1.0 launch, scheduled for May 5th, promises even further enhancements to the game. These updates include tweaks to endgame PvP, changes to armor and gear for better class specialization, and improvements to visuals and performance. Stunlock has assured players that the updates will not stop at 1.0, as they intend to continue creating new features and additions to keep the game fresh and engaging for players.

Despite the significant price increase, Stunlock is confident that players will still find V Rising worth the investment. The game already offers a substantial amount of content, with even more to come in the 1.0 update, including a Castlevania crossover at launch. However, for those who already own the game or purchase it before the price increase on April 5th, they will be able to enjoy all future updates at the original price. Additionally, the cost of DLC packs will remain unchanged, giving players the option to wait on purchasing additional content.

The decision to increase the price of V Rising may seem steep to some players, but Stunlock’s commitment to ongoing development and the promise of new features in the 1.0 update suggest that the game will continue to provide value for its players. Whether the cost increase is justified ultimately depends on the individual player’s preferences and willingness to invest in the evolving world of V Rising.
