Google recently launched a new 45W USB-C charger, which was not the main highlight of their recent Made by Google event. Despite this, it offers significant improvements over the previous 30W charger.
Design and Features
The new 45W charger features a more rounded design and has repositioned the USB-C port to the underside of the charger for easier wall outlet access. However, this new design may cause crowding on a power strip.
With the ability to deliver up to 45W of power, the new charger is more than capable of charging the latest Pixel 9 lineup efficiently. The slowest model, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, can charge at 21W, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL can charge at speeds up to 37W. Additionally, the charger is compatible with the Pixel Tablet and many Chromebooks, expanding its usability to a wider range of devices.
The Google 45W USB-C Power Charger is available for preorder on Google’s online store for $29.99, with shipping expected to begin next week. It is also available for preorder on Best Buy for $19.88, providing a more affordable option for consumers. However, it faces tough competition from other brands like Anker, who offer smaller 45W chargers for less than $20.
Overall, Google’s new 45W USB-C charger brings significant improvements in design and power output compared to its predecessor. While it offers great compatibility and charging speeds for the latest devices, its pricing may deter some consumers who can opt for more affordable alternatives from other brands.
