WhatsApp is taking a step towards enhancing user experience with the introduction of visual changes for its upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) chat feature. As announced earlier this year, the messaging platform owned by Meta has been working on integrating AI chatbots into its platform. These AI-powered assistants are currently being rolled out to selected users in the US and are set to revolutionize the way users interact with the app.

In order to make these AI chats more accessible, WhatsApp has started testing a new shortcut button. Users who have updated to WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.26 can now easily initiate these chats directly from the main chat list using a floating action button (FAB). The FAB is a white button with a multi-colored ring, making it noticeable and distinctive. This new button aims to simplify the process of creating a new AI conversation, allowing users to discover and utilize this feature more efficiently.

WhatsApp has also introduced a new section for status updates, giving users the ability to view and filter a list of status updates. Similar to Instagram stories, status updates on WhatsApp provide users with an opportunity to share moments and experiences with their contacts. In the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.23.25.3), a new filtered vertical list has been spotted.

The vertical list displays all available statuses, including channels, making it easier for users to navigate through the updates. To further enhance user management, WhatsApp has incorporated four new filters at the top of the screen: All, Recent, Viewed, and Muted. These filters allow users to organize and prioritize the statuses they want to view, providing a more streamlined and personalized experience.

The AI chatbots being introduced by WhatsApp are powered by Meta’s advanced language model, Llama 2. These AI assistants are equipped to handle user queries and perform web searches using Bing. Moreover, they have the ability to generate images based on text prompts. Meta has also ensured that these chatbots possess a range of personalities, making interactions with them more engaging and human-like.

While the availability of AI chats to users in other regions may take some time, the incorporation of the new shortcut button will undeniably make it easier for users to discover and utilize this feature. The simplified process ensures that users can access the functionalities of AI chatbots effortlessly, without having to go through additional steps to create a new AI conversation.

With the introduction of visual changes for AI chats and status updates, WhatsApp aims to enhance the user experience and provide them with more control over their interactions on the platform. The new shortcut button for AI chats simplifies the process of initiating conversations with AI assistants, while the filtered list for status updates empowers users to manage their statuses more efficiently. As WhatsApp continues to innovate and integrate advanced technologies, users can anticipate further improvements and features that will revolutionize their messaging experience.
