Fortnite, known for being one of the biggest third-person shooters of all time, is preparing to make a significant shift by introducing a first-person camera mode in the year 2024. Epic Games recently announced this exciting development, which will allow players to engage with their favorite pop-culture icons like Peter Griffin and Solid Snake in a whole new way.

The first-person mode for Fortnite was first teased at the State of Unreal event, where Epic Games unveiled their public roadmap for the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. This tool is primarily used by creators to design custom modes and levels within the game, beyond the traditional battle royale and survival modes. The announcement also included impressive statistics, revealing that over 80,000 UEFN experiences have been created and enjoyed by more than 130 million players.

Acknowledging the high demand for a first-person mode, Epic Games expressed their excitement about fulfilling this request, stating, “It took a while, you know.” While the standard Fortnite battle royale mode may not transition entirely to first-person gameplay, creators will have the option to enforce this perspective or provide players with the choice in custom maps and modes. The potential for first-person play in core modes has not been confirmed yet, leaving room for speculation among fans.

In addition to the introduction of the first-person mode, Unreal Editor for Fortnite is set to receive several other exciting updates. Players can look forward to using Fall Guys’ beans in custom obstacle courses, a custom track editor for Rocket Racing mode, and the ability to engage in in-game trading. Moreover, the addition of Lethal Company-like proximity chat, Lego minigames inspired by recent Lego modes, and a physics sandbox with destructible environments will offer new creative opportunities for players within Fortnite.

UEFN’s collaboration with MetaHuman, a photorealistic digital human-maker, opens up possibilities for creating realistic-looking levels and characters within Fortnite. This integration may lead to enhanced visual experiences and storytelling capabilities for players in the future. Furthermore, the State of Unreal event showcased Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a superhero game directed by Amy Hennig, demonstrating the power of Unreal Engine in pushing graphical boundaries in gaming.

Fortnite’s upcoming first-person mode is a significant step towards enhancing player experiences and encouraging creativity within the gaming community. With Unreal Editor for Fortnite continuing to evolve and incorporate groundbreaking features, the future looks promising for fans of the popular battle royale game. Stay tuned for more updates as Epic Games transforms the world of Fortnite in exciting new ways.
