Instagram has recently announced the global rollout of a new feature that allows users to download and share Reels posted by public accounts. This feature was originally introduced earlier this year in the US, but is now available to users around the world. With this update, Instagram users will be able to save and share Reels through various platforms, offering greater flexibility and convenience.

Downloading Reels

Previously, Instagram users could only share Reels on public profiles directly to their Stories or DMs. However, with the new feature, users can now download Reels and save them directly to their camera roll. These downloaded Reels will also feature the Instagram handle of the creator as a watermark, ensuring proper credit is given.

While the feature is gradually rolling out to all users, it may take some time to be fully available on all accounts. Additionally, public accounts have the option to disable the Reels download feature, preventing users from saving Reels from those accounts to their galleries. However, even if the download feature is turned off, users can still save the Reels for later viewing by tapping the three dots and selecting “Save.”

For users with public accounts who prefer not to have their Reels downloaded by others, Instagram offers the option to turn off the default download feature. This setting can be adjusted by going to Profile > Settings and Privacy > Sharing and Remixes > Downloading your Reels, and then toggling off the download button.

Sharing Reels

In the past, sharing Reels posted by public profiles on other social media platforms required copying and pasting links. However, with this update, Instagram Reels saved to camera rolls can be shared directly as video files on various social media apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram. This eliminates the need to copy and paste URLs, streamlining the sharing process.

The introduction of the ability to download and share Reels on Instagram expands the creative possibilities for users. With this feature, creators can reach a wider audience by sharing their content across different platforms. Additionally, users have greater flexibility in accessing and saving Reels for later viewing. This update demonstrates Instagram’s commitment to improving user experience and maximizing the potential of its platform. As the feature continues to roll out globally, Instagram users can look forward to exploring new ways to engage with and share content on the platform.
