Following the release of the Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, players have been quick to voice their opinions on the new jobs introduced in the game. Specifically, players have raised concerns about the Viper, the dual sword-wielding class, citing that its skill rotation is too “busy”. As a response to this feedback, Square Enix has announced a series of changes that will be implemented in the upcoming patches.
Changes Planned for Patch 7.05
Director Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida detailed the changes that will be made to the Viper class in patch 7.05. The adjustments aim to reduce the directional requirements of the class and tweak the effect of various actions to make the gameplay experience smoother for players. Additionally, there will be some adjustments to the range of certain actions to address the concerns raised by the community.
Bug Fixes and Adjustments for Other Jobs
In addition to the changes planned for the Viper class, Square Enix will also be addressing issues with other jobs in the game. The Pictomancer, an artistic mage introduced in Dawntrail, will receive a bug fix to address the problem of effects being manually disabled by players. The Monk class will also see fixes to address inadequate performance and issues with stacking the Fury status, which were inadvertently introduced in the previous patch.
Players have provided considerable feedback on the Astrologian job, expressing difficulty in using it during damage burst phases of battles. To address this, changes will be made to the recast time of Light Speed and the job’s draw actions. The Samurai class will see adjustments to shorten recast timers for specific actions, while the Red Mage will have the effect time of Manafication lengthened for better gameplay experience.
Black Mages struggling to recover MP without the Umbral Soul action will find it easier in the upcoming patches, with adjustments to attack potencies in patch 7.05. Tanks, on the other hand, will receive changes to address the difficulty of remaining the target of enemies using Enmity, particularly for Dark Knight and Gunbreaker characters. Movement abilities for tanks will have increased enmity effects added, along with additional enmity to area-of-effect attacks.
The changes to the game will be rolled out over the next couple of patches, with Yoshida assuring players that issues hindering their overall experience will also be addressed promptly. The community feedback on the Dawntrail expansion has been instrumental in shaping these changes, and Square Enix is committed to enhancing the gameplay experience for all players. Despite the challenges faced, the rollout of Dawntrail has been relatively smooth compared to previous expansions, thanks to the implementation of new servers and congestion-easing measures prior to the launch.
