Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is an annual speedrunning marathon that brings together gamers from around the world to showcase their skills while raising money for charity. The 2024 edition of SGDQ is set to kick off on Sunday and will run until July 6th. This year’s lineup is filled with a variety of runs for popular games that are sure to delight fans of all genres.
One of the most anticipated runs at SGDQ 2024 is a live speedrun by Peanut Butter, the shiba inu who captured the hearts of viewers with a remote run of the NES game Gyromite at Awesome Games Done Quick earlier this year. This time, Peanut Butter will be live at the event playing Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball for the Super NES. The goal? To win a game in just 30 minutes. The run is scheduled for July 4th at 8:43PM ET, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see if Peanut Butter can achieve this impressive feat.
Aside from Peanut Butter’s run, SGDQ 2024 features a lineup of runs for some of the most beloved games in the gaming community. From Balatro and Alan Wake 2 to Elden Ring and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1, 2, 3, and 4 (all in one run), there is something for everyone to enjoy. Not to mention a glitchless Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode run and a shipless Outer Wilds run that are sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With such a diverse array of games, SGDQ 2024 promises to be an event to remember.
For those unable to attend the event in person, SGDQ 2024 will be streamed live from Minneapolis on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel. Additionally, runs will be posted on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel after they have taken place. Viewers can show their support for the event by donating to Doctors Without Borders, the charity benefiting from the funds raised during SGDQ 2024. By coming together to watch and support the runners, gamers are able to make a positive impact on the world while enjoying the excitement of speedrunning.
