Kia has recently unveiled their finalized version of the EV3, a small electric SUV that is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market. This innovative vehicle was first introduced as a concept last year and is now ready to hit the roads in South Korea this July, with plans to launch in Europe in the second half of the year. While Kia has confirmed that the EV3 will also be available in the US, the timing for its release has not been announced yet.
One of the most exciting features of the EV3 is the inclusion of an AI assistant, making it the first production EV from Kia to incorporate this technology. The AI assistant is voice-activated and will allow users to perform a variety of tasks such as trip planning and entertainment searches. This AI assistant is based on ChatGPT technology but has been customized by Kia to cater to the needs of its users. The feature will be initially launched in Korea before making its way to Europe.
The EV3 boasts an impressive 600km driving range based on the European WLTP system, equivalent to approximately 373 miles. This driving range is achieved through an 81.4kWh battery in the long-range model, with a “Standard” model also in the works with a 58.3kWh battery. Accelerating from zero to 100km in just 7.5 seconds, the EV3’s powertrain is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, ensuring a smooth and efficient driving experience.
Technological Advancements Inside the Vehicle
Inside the EV3, drivers and passengers will be greeted with a high-tech interior equipped with cutting-edge features. The vehicle comes with a dual 12.3-inch screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, a five-inch panel for HVAC controls, and a 12-inch heads-up display for added convenience. Additionally, premium streaming apps are integrated into the system, thanks to LG’s webOS-based auto platform, allowing users to stay connected on the go.
Inspired by the Soul-ful design of the Kia EV9, the EV3 boasts a spacious interior that can comfortably accommodate five passengers. The design of the vehicle allows for ample storage space for personal items, including a sliding table for laptops and other devices. Despite the absence of a front gas engine, the EV3 features a 25-liter frunk for additional storage, maintaining consistency with Kia’s other models.
