Hyundai has recently revealed the 2025 Ioniq 5 refresh, which is set to pioneer the integration of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) into non-Tesla vehicles. This new Tesla-based charging port will eliminate the need for adapters at Tesla stations and provide a seamless charging experience for customers. While other automakers have announced their adoption of the NACS connector, Hyundai is taking the lead by incorporating it directly into their new models.

Enhanced Battery Options

In addition to the groundbreaking charging port, the 2025 Ioniq 5 lineup will feature larger battery options compared to the current models. The Standard Range models will offer battery capacities ranging from 58.0 to 63.0 kWh, while the Long Range models will have capacities between 77.4 to 84 kWh. These upgraded batteries will significantly improve the driving range of the vehicles, with the Standard Range models targeting over 240 miles on a single charge and the Long Range plus RWD combination aiming for more than 310 miles.

Exciting Features and Production Details

Hyundai is also introducing a new rugged XRT package for the Ioniq 5, adding an off-road appeal to the vehicle similar to Ford’s Mustang Mach-E Rally. The production of this new version of the Ioniq 5 will take place in the US at Hyundai’s Georgia factory, starting this fall. The company expects the new model to qualify for a $3,750 federal tax credit for electric vehicles, with additional federal incentives anticipated in the future. It’s worth noting that leases of the vehicle will still be eligible for the $7,500 federal credit, ensuring that consumers benefit fully from these incentives.

Overall, Hyundai’s latest advancements in the electric vehicle market with the 2025 Ioniq 5 refresh showcase the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. By integrating the NACS charging standard, enhancing battery options, and introducing exciting features, Hyundai is setting a new standard for electric vehicles in the industry. With production set to begin soon, customers can look forward to a reliable and efficient driving experience with the new Hyundai Ioniq 5.
