Google has recently introduced a new option for users called “Listen to this page” within the Android Chrome browser. This feature allows users to have webpages read out loud to them, with playback controls similar to those found in music or podcast players. Users can pause, change the reading speed, scrub forward or backwards, skip ahead or go back by 10 seconds at a time, and even change the voice and language used for the reading.
The “Listen to this page” feature by Google supports various languages, including English, French, German, Arabic, Hindi, and Spanish. Users can easily change the voice and language settings according to their preferences. To access this feature, users can simply navigate to a text-heavy webpage, tap on the three dots menu, and select the “Listen to this page” option. Additionally, users can utilize Google Assistant to have webpages read out loud to them and even translate the content into other languages while staying within the Chrome browser.
While Google has introduced the “Listen to this page” feature for Chrome on Android, Safari for iPhone users also have a similar option called “Listen to Page.” This feature reads webpages using Siri’s voice and offers similar playback controls to Google’s feature. However, users may be directed to the Google app when using the translation feature on Safari, whereas Google’s new option keeps users within the browser environment.
The new “Listen to this page” feature by Google may currently only be available to users using the beta version of Chrome. It is common for Google to roll out new features in phases, with beta users often being the first to test out these updates. While the feature has been tested on desktop versions of Chrome as well, users can expect a seamless experience when accessing this option on their Android devices.
Overall, the introduction of the “Listen to this page” feature by Google brings added convenience and accessibility to users who prefer having web content read out loud to them. With easy-to-use playback controls, language support, and integration with Google Assistant, this feature is set to enhance the browsing experience for many users.
