After almost a year of being in self-imposed exile post-beta, the licensed kitchen sink fighting game MultiVersus is making a comeback next week. The decision to pull the game from sale and shut down its servers left many players disappointed, especially those who had invested real money into unlocking costumes and other in-game items with no hope of refunds. However, the developers are now seeking to make amends by offering something back to the community.

Player First Games have announced that anyone who participated in MultiVersus’ beta will have the opportunity to access the first season’s premium battle pass for free. This means that players will be able to unlock the highly sought-after Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, the first reward on the paid pass, without having to spend any money. For those who miss out on this opportunity, Jason Voorhees will eventually be available for purchase using in-game currency and character tokens.

Added Value

To reassure players who are considering purchasing the battle pass, the developers have stated that they have increased the number of “high-value” items available, including ringouts, alternate characters, taunts, and the in-game currency Gleamium. By progressing through the battle pass, players can earn enough Gleamium to cover the cost of the next battle pass, effectively allowing them to unlock everything without additional real money investment. This model is reminiscent of Fortnite, where players can earn enough in-game currency to sustain their progress.

In addition to the benefits for beta players, there are additional rewards for fans of various franchises. Adventure Time enthusiasts can unlock a special costume for Finn the Human, as well as a unique ringout animation featuring some rising stars. The Banana Guard, an unexpected character from Adventure Time, will also be available for players to unlock by completing a seven-day tutorial track. Completing the reward calendar will grant players access to Lady Banana Guard, adding even more variety to the roster.

A Bananas Surprise

For those who participated in the open beta, there is a fun surprise awaiting them. Players will have the opportunity to switch their announcer to a Banana Guard voice pack, adding a quirky and unexpected twist to the game.

To take advantage of these rewards, players must log in to MultiVersus between the relaunch date on May 28th and June 11th. Based on early impressions, MultiVersus shows promise as a compelling Smash Bros-like experience on PC. For fans of Warner Bros IP, the game offers even more appeal, making it a potentially exciting return for players.

Overall, the return of MultiVersus brings new opportunities for players to engage with the game, offering a second chance for fans to experience the thrill of battle and unlock valuable rewards. With a renewed focus on player satisfaction and added value, the developers are looking to make a lasting impression in the world of fighting games.
