WhatsApp is taking artificial intelligence to the next level with the introduction of a new feature called ‘Imagine Me’. This innovative feature allows users to generate AI-generated photos of themselves, creating a personalized and unique experience within the messaging platform.
Recently, WhatsApp rolled out its Meta AI chatbots in select markets, including India and the US. Now, the platform is working on new AI features, with ‘Imagine Me’ being one of them. This optional feature will enable users to upload reference selfies, which will then be used by the Meta AI chatbot to generate new AI images. The feature is currently in the development stage and is not available for testing yet.
Users can initiate the AI image generation process by typing “Imagine me” in the Meta AI chat window. Additionally, the feature can also be accessed in other chats by typing “@Meta AI imagine me”. The screenshots of the feature suggest that users will have the option to choose different backgrounds and locations, ranging from forests to outer space, to enhance their images and create customized stickers.
One key aspect of the ‘Imagine Me’ feature is the ability for users to delete the uploaded reference selfies at any time through the settings. This gives users full control over their data and privacy. Moreover, the personalized AI image generation option is said to be optional, requiring users to manually turn it on in their settings. This ensures that users have the autonomy to decide whether they want to use this feature or not.
While the ‘Imagine Me’ feature is still in development, it is expected to be included in a future update of WhatsApp. The feature tracker, WABetaInfo, predicts that this new AI feature will enhance the user experience on the platform and provide users with a more interactive and personalized messaging experience. Meta AI, which powers the chatbots on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, is continuously evolving to offer cutting-edge AI capabilities to users.
