WhatsApp is constantly evolving and working on new features to enhance user experience. One of the latest developments is a feature that will allow users to set a default theme, changing the colour of chat bubbles on the app on their smartphone. This new personalization option could potentially offer a selection of colour presets, giving users more control over the appearance of their chats.

The feature was recently spotted in development by a feature tracker on a beta version of the app for iPhone. The Meta-owned messaging app had already updated the colour scheme of its app for iOS users, introducing a green accent for various elements such as buttons and notification counters. However, this new Default chat theme feature takes personalization to the next level.

According to the feature tracker, users will have the option to choose from five different themes – the default green theme, as well as blue, grey, red, and purple. This gives users the flexibility to select a colour scheme that suits their preferences and style. The leaked image also reveals that selecting a chat theme will not only change the colour of chat bubbles but also set the wallpaper and a themed WhatsApp doodle background for chats on the user’s phone.

It is important to note that setting the chat theme will only apply to the same phone and will not modify the theme in a chat for both users. This is unlike Instagram, where users can customize themes on a per-chat basis. The new chat theme picker is currently in development and is expected to be rolled out to beta testers on iOS in the future before it becomes available on the stable channel. This gives users an exciting glimpse into the potential future of WhatsApp customization options.

The introduction of the Default chat theme feature by WhatsApp represents a significant step towards enhancing user personalization and customization within the app. By allowing users to select their preferred chat theme, WhatsApp is giving users more control over their messaging experience. As the feature continues to be developed and tested, users can look forward to a more vibrant and personalized chat environment on the popular messaging platform.
