WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, is reportedly testing a new dedicated video note mode for the camera on both Android and iOS platforms. This new feature may allow users to record and share video notes directly from the camera interface, making the process more seamless and convenient.
Implementation on Android and iOS
According to a feature tracker, the video note mode has been spotted in a beta version of the app on both Android and iOS platforms. The dedicated mode for recording video notes is said to appear in the camera interface alongside the existing Video and Photo options. On Android, the feature is present in the app version 2.24.14.14, while on iOS, it can be found in the WhatsApp for iOS version 24.13.10.76.
WhatsApp previously introduced Instant Video Notes in 2023, allowing users to record and send 60-second video messages directly in chat. The platform has also been testing a shortcut button to quickly reply to video notes. With the addition of the dedicated video notes option in the camera tab, sharing video notes is expected to become even more efficient.
Despite these reports, the availability of this new feature on WhatsApp beta for Android has not been verified by Gadgets 360 staff members. If implemented, this feature would provide users with an alternative way to send video notes, in addition to the existing method of long-pressing on the camera icon in a specific chat.
Future Developments and AI Features
In addition to testing the dedicated video note mode, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on new AI features. The company recently introduced Meta AI, an AI chatbot in India, and is now said to be developing a feature that will allow users to generate images of themselves via prompts. The feature, called ‘Imagine Me,’ was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android update 2.24.14.13.
Overall, the introduction of a dedicated video note mode in the camera interface of WhatsApp would be a welcome addition for users looking to share video messages more easily. With the platform’s ongoing developments in AI technology, WhatsApp continues to evolve and offer new features to enhance the user experience.
