In an effort to provide more community support to small content creators, YouTube has announced the testing of a new feature called ‘Hype’. This feature is currently being rolled out to viewers in select regions, allowing content creators who meet certain criteria to be eligible for the program. The ‘Hype’ feature is one of many developments by the video-streaming platform, alongside other potential features such as a sleep timer.

According to YouTube’s support page, viewers in Brazil, Turkey, and Taiwan are currently able to ‘Hype’ a video in addition to liking it. This new functionality will help boost the rankings of videos that receive more ‘Hype’ within the last seven days. The more a video is ‘Hyped’, the higher it will be ranked among other recently published content.

Small content creators, particularly those with less than 500,000 subscribers who are part of the YouTube Partner Program, stand to benefit from the ‘Hype’ feature. This initiative aims to provide greater community support and help these creators reach a wider audience. However, to be eligible for the program, content creators must ensure that all their videos comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

While the ‘Hype’ program is currently in the testing phase and limited to select creators, there is a possibility that it may be expanded to more content creators in the future. YouTube’s goal is to empower small creators and provide them with more opportunities to grow their audience and engagement.

In addition to the ‘Hype’ feature, YouTube has also introduced a new experimental feature that allows users to post comments below videos to provide context. This feature is currently available in English and only to users in the US. By utilizing the Add note option below the video, users can enhance understanding and engagement with the content.

Overall, YouTube’s testing of the ‘Hype’ feature demonstrates the platform’s commitment to supporting small content creators and enhancing community engagement. While the program is still in its early stages, it has the potential to provide valuable opportunities for creators to grow their audience and improve the visibility of their content. As YouTube continues to innovate and introduce new features, it will be interesting to see how these initiatives evolve and impact the creator community.
